Zak Abel Performance – Review

The Shoots were fortunate enough to grab a fistful of the quickly sold out tickets for the up-coming hyped North London soul singer; “Zak Abel”.

The show opened with Dan Caplen, a British R&B singer, songwriter & musician hailing from Brixton, stepping in last minute to show off his amazing vocals alongside his keyboards. Technical problems in the beginning didn’t detour him as he talked to the crowd, hyping them through the process.

Bang on time, Zak Abel came onto the stage to a sudden onslaught of applause from the packed-out crowd & was gave an amazing performance worthy of the hype around him. With the stage presence of a pro, conversing with the audience between each song, engaged with the backstories to his songs.. Half-way through the set, Zak Abel got the crowd to join in on a 30-second cover of Gnarles Barkley’s Crazy with his drummer filming the action.

Toward the end of the show, Zak brought fellow artists Tom Misch, (brilliant guitar) & Kwabs to the fore who were amazing addition and really bought something special to the show.  A great way to use his platform to bring up other up & coming British artists.

Zak Abel’s album, ‘Only When We’re Naked’ is available from March 10th
