Octavian has been on the rise as a quality emerging artist for quite a few months now.. The London rapper really grabbed attention when Drake appeared on his Instagram dancing to his single “Party’s Here.”
Last week at London’s Jazz Café he lit up the stage as a natural. Pacing the stage like he was born on it, his energy and connection with the crowd shone through especially with up-tempo bangers “Little” and “100 Degrees”.
At 21, the French-born South London artist is rightly being tipped for greatness. With a truly distinctive flow and confidence the audience reaction was on point, with the crowd in sync, hyping Octavian lyric for lyric.
What strikes him out from other artists in his scene is his ability to bring together the many genres of London’s fractured music scene. He’s music hasexcellent production qualities, but an inclusiveness that incorporates bass-heavy beats, garage, trap and dancehall influences.
It was great to see his first headline at the Jazz Café and based on my ears and the audience reaction, we will soon be seeing him at the Academy….
