One Africa Music Fest
London was a shut-down last Saturday 13th of May. One Africa Music Festival debuted at SSE WEMBLEY ARENA following its two-previous sold-out shows in New York.
According to promoters, the world’s biggest Afrobeat festival and boy was it well received here in London. The line-up was full with Africa’s biggest music stars such as Davido, Sakordie , Tiwa Savage , Tekno and Awilo Longomba – to name a few.(full line up list below).
Newly married Nigerian actor and musician Banky-W was the host and kept the show vibrant and the audience laughing. Capital Xtra’s DJ Abrantee was the official UK DJ Host. His set killed the crowd with the best African mixes both old-school and current. He made it extra special by introducing upcoming U.K. artists such as SONA who really lit up the crowd.
The One Africa Music Festival is fast becoming the biggest platform showcasing African music and culture to the mainstream. The concert also gives time over to promoting peace and love, bringing a continent of musicians and music-lovers together under one roof in shared passion for the Afro-Beat sound.
I wasn’t the only one blasting social media to try to sharing our experience live. It was trending on all social media platforms and amazing after parties followed the main event in Wembley.
One criticism I have to make is predictable, but still annoying. We have some much professional talent, yet the time keeping ruins the experience. It is disappointing to have the last acts being rushed because late arrivals push the events an hour over time.
That said it was a fantastic experience and I am reserving my tickets for next year now!
