UK soul is coming strong as Morgan Munroe has blessed us all with her new single ‘Mama Taught Me’ which came out on 9th of October.

Her captivating vocals alongside the piano and drums makes it the perfect track to lay back and chill with some candles lit on a cold wintery night.

The track was produced by London-based artist Ruby Francis and this song is the first release from her upcoming EP ‘Layers 0.5’ which comes out in November. Morgan is from Leicester and first emerged onto the music scene when her vocals were featured on the Kamakaze single ‘Last Night’ which was on the FIFA 20 soundtrack and has racked up 4 million views.

Speaking about the ‘Mama Taught Me’ track Morgan said “I didn’t want ‘Mama Taught Me’ to be any other heartbreak/love song, I wanted the focus to be empowering” Morgan explains. “I think writing this song definitely activated a change in my writing style and gave me direction as a songwriter. ‘Mama Taught Me’ actually existed in a different form before Ruby Francis got involved. I loved her production and wanted to see what she could do with this song, she smashed it!’

Morgan has been maximising the lockdown period by getting her hands in some competitions, she won the Instagram live competition by #HardestBars twice and the Stefflon Don/Pretty Little Thing competition. She was also the highlight on DJ Targets ‘BBC 1xtra Instagram Live’. As well as that she won £7500 worth of at home studio equipment in an SBTV competition. So it’s safe to say she has had a good year!

With the release of ‘Mama Taught Me’, we are excited for her EP next month!
