As the world marked Michael Jackson’s 60th birthday on 29th August a range of celebrities directly & indirectly effected by his legacy took to social media to commiserate the death of the King of Pop with messages from Chance the Rapper to Eddie Griffin.
The date also held an announcement from Jerry Greenberg, former MJJ president and 769 Entertainment, of a tribute project, which consists of four singles that will be released over ten months and will culminate with a special four-track EP box set.
Despite his controversies and court actions, Michael Jackson’s music and performance style has proved a timeless influence who has impacted generations around the world. He was seen as an innovator in style like the sequined glove & “Thriller” Jacket and in his music videos like “Thriller”, “Scream” & “Man In The Mirror”.
The project aims to showcase the video & singles bringing a diverse range of artists together – as Greenberg added, ‘Our hope is that through this special project, we can all come together in these challenging times and celebrate him, and to continue to keep his legacy alive for generations to come. We’re working closely with Taryll Jackson on behalf of the family,’
The first collaboration announced is a single and video homage, ‘Let’s Shut Up and Dance’ with Jason Derulo and K-pop boy band EXO member Lay and NCT 127.
