Jorja Smith Performance – Review

Monday saw Small Green Shoots at the Underground Village in Shoreditch for rising artist, Jorja Smith’s gig. She brought out alternative Indie artist, Jordan Max as her supporting act who had powerful vocals and an amazing bluesy voice full of emotion; we will definitely be going to any of his next gigs. It was definitely a great start to the night; Jordan sounded beautifully soulful and was a great choice to support Jorja, who have similar vibes.

Jorja Smith is a modest performer with her effortlessly powerful vocals. She connected to the packed out venue of fans by sharing her personal stories of each song, from her oldest which was written at 16, but recently released, ‘Teenaged Fantasy’ to her latest song ‘Losing Yourself’, a song about realization, which she wrote whilst in LA.

Jorja is an amazing artist and it was a great opportunity to be able to get tickets for her quickly sold out show to see her perform live alongside Maverick Sabre to her classic single ‘A Prince’ and ‘Carry Me Home’ as the crowd sang along and their song.

From being in amongst the crowd, watching her live and seeing her raw authentic energy, it was easy to see how Jorja was able to cultivate such a strong fan base as well as powerful collaborations with international artists such as Drake.

If you haven’t heard her latest track on Drake’s More Life playlist, listen to it here.

Catch Jorja Smith’s next live performance at the Electric Brixton on the 20th July.
