Drake: #MoreLife Album Review

‘It’s a playlist, not an album”

Drake has released a 22-track album last weekend with some tracks featured British artists such as with Giggs, Skepta, Jorja Smith and Sampha

Drake has created a platform for exposure that record labels would pay millions for their artists. The Canadian Artist is known to love UK music and culture so It was no surprise that this album included some UK artist. He is the first Canadian to be signed to BBK (British record label) and has been known to have a good relationship with Skepta who also features on his new album.

More Life is a very significant album in the UK history as it has changed the way Americans view UK rap. More especially, US listeners have become increasingly aware and intrigued of UK slang and Grime!

Most Artists on Drakes album benefitted from an increase in US listeners. Following the album more people researched
about Skepta and streamed more Giggs tracks with an increase of 146% more US listeners, Skepta has a US fan base due to his appearances on SXSW Texas festival but the listeners still grew up by 21%. Jorja smith also grew by 12% and Sampha already had a huge fanbase in the US.

Overall, the exposure for UK artist was major and revolutionary which only Drake could achieve. Drake has been a big supporter of UK artist even before this album. At  “THE BOY MEETS WORLD TOUR” he brought out some UK artist such as Dave Santan an 18-year-old rapper in the UK who in October 2016, Drake premiered a version of Dave’s song “Wanna Know” featuring Drake.
