Monday evening, I headed on my way to the famous 02 arena in Greenwich for Dave’s sold out concert ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’. I’ve been waiting for this moment to come, even more so, as Storm Eunice had led the event to be rescheduled a week later. But not to worry, as all I could think about was finally seeing Dave live in the flesh.

The night started off with his opening acts, well-established DJ Manny Norte and the new artist on the scene, Meekz. Both of these acts warmed up the crowd, including my friend and I as we couldn’t help but dance to the baddest UK and US tunes known to man.

At exactly 9pm, the lights in the arena started to fade and instantly a roar of screams filled the room. To record this historic moment in time, I quickly took out my phone as I knew Dave was coming onto the stage. There he was, looking straight into the crowd performing his song Verdansk from his latest album.

Throughout the night everything was on point, from flame backdrops to confetti floating in the air. Dave provided a show like no other, as he performed his smash hits ‘Streatham’, ‘Thiago Silva’, ‘Funky Friday’, ‘Location’ and ‘In the Fire’. With special guest appearances from Aj Tracey, Stormzy, Meekz, Fredo, Giggs and Ghetts.

I must admit I did get emotional at one point, as Dave made a heartfelt speech in honour of SBTV founder Jamal Edwards, who sadly passed away last month at the age of 31.

On stage he said: “Jamal Edwards is the reason I’m standing in front of you guys here today. There’s so many different emotions that all of us feel – all of us that were so connected to him in so many different ways.

“We all have a different experience to him, but we all have so many things in common with the experience. And he’s one person in the world that just wanted to help, that just wanted to see every single person that he touched shine.”

It was beautiful to witness this, as there was a screening of SBTV clips followed by a black and white image of Jamal to which everyone applauded to.

Being from Streatham myself, I couldn’t be even more proud of Dave. The achievements he has made at the age of 23 years old, is just remarkable. I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely excited to see what Dave will bring us in years to come.
