Channel U is set to make a comeback on Friday 13th November. After first launching in 2003, the grime and UK focused channel stopped airing back in 2018 because of Massive R&B taking over Sky channel 373. Two years later, it will be making a comeback, starting with the premiere of the new film; ‘Against all odds’, which I intend on watching. ‘Against All Odds’ is both directed and produced by Nicky ‘Slimting’ Walker as well as Femi Oyeniran, who you may recognise from Kidulthood.
Channel U (also know as channel AKA) used to be the only TV station giving grime and UK rap airtime; helping to launch artists such as Giggs, Wretch 32 and more. Although TV isn’t as popular as it used to be, this channel’s comeback could still bring exposure to emerging artists and I think that’s exciting. I am looking forward to watching the relaunch.
