Smells like DJ in here
I’m not joking, from the live desktop visual on the projector, the ominous bass drones from another room in the distance and a slight hum of testosterone. Yes, I am the only girl in the room again.
I’m at Pioneers “Rekordbox software” demo, so I am probably asking for it
Funny, I remember getting into clubs by carrying the “record box” for DJ mates/uncles/colleagues/crushes… now you can download every tune, effect, playlist into a USB/SD card and plug straight into the Pioneer software. Music by Oystercard. You have to love it. Just don’t ask for a “plus 1”.
The Brighton Music Conference curiously comes just after the industry migration to the coast for “The great Escape”.
It is definitely more technically minded, with an educations “Academy” strand for entry level artists and professionals, the conference is hosted at the Brighton Dome and supported by a raft of soft and hardware providers, media partnered with DJ Magazine.
Yes, I am a bit of an endangered species, but for DJs and producers it is a playground for technology try outs, discussions on streaming alongside plentiful opportunities to network and talk Quad4 processors, how Ibiza has “really changed” and bluetooth preview new material.
