On Sunday 22nd November, Deschanel Gordon won the BBC Young Jazz Musician Award which was presented by Saxophonist, Composer, and Broadcaster YolanDa Brownto. The competitions final was broadcasted last night at 7pm on BBC Four.

The 22 year old pianist grew up in Hackney and recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance. He has already began making a big impact on the jazz scene and has worked with upcoming trumpeter Mark Kavuma, US-born singer Judi Jackson as well as performing at the Jazz Café, Love Supreme and the Winter Jazzfest in New York. He definitely deserved this award and I am looking forward to seeing what he does with music in the future.
